This residence is located in a natural environment, facing a cherry tree-lined street where a small stream has been covered, offering excellent views, ventilation, and natural light. The design was carefully considered to incorporate the homeowner’s desire to wake up with the sunrise, look at the sky, and feel the natural light and wind while living.
Considering the maximum possible opening on the south side facing the greenway with cherry trees, it became apparent that varying the floor heights between the north and south sides was a rational aproach. The architectural composition was designed to create long, expansive spaces, stretching east to west, while inserting horizontal planes with skip-floor levels in the north to south direction.
The gaps created by these levels are intended as pathways for light, wind, and people,aiming to create a comfortable living environment.


The entrance seamlessly connects the doma-area, paved with natural pebbles, with the interior, warmly welcoming family and guests.


The front door features carefully hand-applied lacquered washi paper and a handle crafted with
naguri processing. By applying lacquer to kozo paper washi, a unique texture is achieved,
enhancing its strength and deepening its character with use. The handle is made by alternating two types of wood, chestnut and walnut, forming a hexagonal shape that is then given a naguri finish. This technique allows for different visual expressions depending on the angle and provides a pleasant touch feeling wcperience when held.


The flooring material beyond the-‘entrance also features naguri processing, providing a sense of
comfort from the ground up as one steps into the home.


Natural light softly filters in from the upper north side of the upstairs,gently enveloping the
space with the textures of solid bay pine treads, copper-colored handrails, and rattan-wrapped
railings carefully crafted by artisans.


The living, dining, and kitchen (LDK) area, where the family spends most of their time, is
positioned on the second floor with a 13-meter-wide frontage overlooking the cherry-lined street
to the south. The structure is planned as a pillar-less space, allowing a family of five to live
comfortably. By avoiding the use of beams running perpendicular to the main beam, light from the skylight on the north side spreads softly across the ceiling, creating a space where natural
light can be enjoyed throughout the day.

To achieve a pillar-less structure with a maximum span of 12 meters (7. 7 meters for the livingdining area) in a wooden structure, a scissor truss is assembled with 105×270 beams, split and sandwiched with 60×240 beams at 910mm intervals. The skylight area in the perpendicular direction is supported by a Vierendeel truss, enabling a clean, strong roof structure without small beams, where the sheathing boards also serve to handle the horizontal forces.


Environmentally, the building employs passive design principles, with eaves and walls block ing
solar radiation, sufficient insulation performance, and maximizing natural ventilation and natural light. Large openings are provided on the south side on both the first and second floors, capturing the prevailing winds flowing from south to north. The design also utilizes gravity ventilation, with a natural ventilation system that creates airflow by opening the skylight at the top of the roof to draw air from the first floor.


In winter, the warm air accumulated at the top of the roof is drawn in and sent to cold areas such
as under the windows on the first floor and the bathroom, ensuring that warm air circulates
throughout the house.

A terrace seamlessly connects to the LDK, expanding the living space. While maintaining openness to the cherry blossom avenue, we also designed curtains that can reduce visibility for nighttime privacy. During the day, lightweight fabric sways gently in the wind, while at night, the fabric density increases to create a non-transparent boundary, integrating the LDK with the terrace.


The bathroom is adjacen t to the terrace, allowing soft natural light and a breeze to flow into the dressing room and bathroom. By lowering the level of the terrace, the design blocks the view from thegreenway, allowing system to flow and preventing it from lingering, while ensuring a high ceiling height.
The bathroom features Towada stone and hinoki wood, 0ffering various textures, colors, and
scents. Openi g the window to feel the changing seasons while bathing creates a space intended to prov ide both physical and mental relaxation.


The space where the three children study is not enclosed as a private room but is located in a
space about 70 cm lower on a skip floor, subtly separated from the LDK by a waist -high wall
while still sharing the atmosphere with the family.


The homeowner, who lives in harmony with nature by waking up with the sunrise, being active during the day, and sleeping when the sun sets, has their bedroom located on the east side where the morning sun gently filters in. The shoji screens softly diffuse the morning light, and the textured diatomaceous earth walls refl ect natural light throughout the room, creating a bright and welcoming space.


While fully enjoying the benefits of the external natural environment, the interior is infused with
natural materials, creating a space where the warmth of craftsmanship is felt. The house is
designed to develop a rich patina over the decades, watching over the family’s growth with grace.


这座住宅坐落在一个良好的自然环境中,面向一条沿着暗渠的小溪的樱花大道,享有良好的视野、通风和自然采光。为了融入业主希望在日出时醒来,感受自然光和微风的想法,我们着重设计了建筑的结构。
我们构思,南侧面向樱花林荫道应尽可能开放,因此合理的设计了南北方向的层高变化。我们在东西方向上设计了延伸的空间,同时在南北方向上采用了带有台阶的跳层设计。通过使用这些台阶所形成的间隙作为光、空气和人流的通道,创造一个舒适的居住环境。

 

入口处采用了由自然石材铺成的土间,与室内形成链接,温暖地迎接家人和客人。

 

正面有一扇用手工精心贴合的漆涂和纸门,以及经过名栗加工的把手。将漆涂于和纸上,不仅产生了独特的质感,还增强了强度,随着使用时间的推移,表面会逐渐变得更有韵味。把手则由栗木和胡桃木交替结合而成,形成六角形的结构,通过名栗加工,使得把手在不同角度下呈现出不同的表情,握持时也能体验到独特的触感。

 

进入后,采用名栗加工的地板材质,不仅视觉上吸引人,更能在脚下带来回家的安心感。

 

楼梯的北侧自然光柔和地透入,实木的贝松踏板、铜色的扶手以及工匠精心包裹的藤制扶手,温柔地包围了整个空间。

 

家人最常呆的LDK(客厅、餐厅、厨房)位于二楼,朝向南侧的樱花大道,宽达13米。我们能将它设计成无柱空间,五口之家能够在此舒适地度过。通过不设小梁而使大梁与小梁呈垂直方向排列,北侧天窗透入的光线柔和地扩散到天花板上,使得整个空间在一天中都能享受到自然光。

为了实现最大12米的跨距(客厅餐厅7.7米的跨距),采用无柱木结构,我们以105×270的主梁夹持60×240的半切梁,以910毫米的间距构建剪刀桁架,并在天窗部分搭建费伦德尔桁架,以便通过屋面板来承担水平力,形成无小梁的端正而强劲的大屋顶。

 

在环境设计上,我们以融入自然设计为基础,构建了通过屋檐和墙体遮挡日射的建筑构造,确保充足的绝热性能,从而最大化实现自然通风和自然采光。无论是第一层还是第二层,都设有南向的大窗户,引入南北方向的定常风,同时利用重力通风,设计了屋顶的天窗,从而使一楼引入风来形成风向的自然通风结构。

 

在冬季,引入屋顶积聚的暖气,输送至一楼较冷的窗下和浴室,使得整个房屋的暖气能够得到循环。

 

我们设立了一个与LDK连接的露台,扩展了客厅空间。在保持与樱花大道的开放性的同时,我们也设计了可以提高夜间隐私性,遮挡视线的窗帘。白天,轻盈的布料随风摇曳;夜晚,布料密度增加,形成不透光的界限,使得LDK与露台融为一体。

 

浴室与露台相邻,柔和的自然光线和微风能流入浴室和洗漱间。我们将浴室高度设计得低于露台,从而达到遮挡来自绿道的视线的作用,同时高挑的天花板设计确保蒸汽不会积聚。

 

三个孩子的学习空间并不完全封闭,而是设在比LDK低约70厘米的跳层空间中,与LDK有适当的隔断的同时,也能感受到家庭的氛围。

 

因为业主日出而作,日落而息,与自然融合的作息时间,因此卧室位于能享受日出的东侧。障子轻柔地扩散早晨的阳光,质感丰富的珪藻土墙体包围整个房间。

 

在充分受益于外部自然环境的同时,室内布满自然材料以及呈现出工匠的手工艺,营造出温暖的空间。我们希望,经过几十年的时间,家会逐渐显现出风韵,成为见证家人茁壮成长的温馨住所。
