We focused on the angle of the customers’ line of sight as they pass by the store front, and designed a “shed” in the center of the store in a polygonal shape. This shed is intended to maintain high visibility by directly catching the gaze of customers from both sides, while also allowing customers with carts to smoothly enter the store without any corners obstructing their path.

The concept for this design is a workshop. Given the limited space at the Narita Airport store, we drew inspiration from the simple, functional, and purpose-driven nature of a workshop where craftsmen work. Specifically, we proposed a design that integrates a display system with studs spaced 600mm apart, allowing for adjustments in height and display methods.

For this small store, where items and customer demographics change each season, we incorporated flexibility to adapt to different needs. We believe we have created a DANTON-style workshop that can change according to the mood of the moment.
