瀬戸内の空と山海が広大に広がる景色を取り込んだかのようなグラデーションかかったファブリックや、嚴島神社を望むことのできるアプローチ設計など、この土地の風景と文化を伝え続ける旅館を目指しました。

すべての客室が宮島を望むオーシャンビューです。窓辺のロングソファからは、穏やかな瀬戸内海と島々が織りなす美しい景観を眺めることができます。客室のカーテンやソファ、椅子には、瀬戸内海の青をイメージした色彩を取り入れ、景色と一体となるような空間をデザインします。
２．最上階に設けられる、海側も山側も見渡せる大浴場
界 宮島の大浴場は、宿の最上階に位置し、南に面した海を見渡す露天風呂と、北に面した山並みを望む内風呂の２つの趣の異なる湯殿を楽しめます。露天風呂は、瀬戸内海と湯船が一体となるような設計で、まるで海に浸かっているかのような開放的な体験ができます。また内風呂では、身体の芯から温まるあつ湯、ゆったり入れるぬる湯の2種類の湯船を設け、体の調子にあわせて、心身ともにリラックスできる湯浴みを楽しめます。

３．現代に蘇る、瀬戸内に古くから伝わる「石風呂」
界 宮島では、瀬戸内で古くから親しまれてきた「石風呂」を現代に継承する試みを行います。鎌倉時代に起源を持つとされる石風呂は、かつてこの地域で広く普及していましたが、現在ではその姿を見ることはほとんどありません。そこで、石風呂を通して、瀬戸内が育んできた文化の息吹と、人々の暮らしから生まれた知恵を提供するため、現存する石風呂の調査や過去の文献を参考に、今の時代が求めるくつろぎを追求した石風呂を再現することにしました。

輻射熱による温浴体験：床、壁、天井からの輻射熱により、温度ムラが少なく、一般的なサウナよりも高温かつ低湿で利用できます。足元まで均一な温度が保たれるため、地べたに座っても快適に温まることが可能です。
心身を落ち着かせる空間：仄暗く静かな環境で、床に敷かれたござの上で、心身を落ち着かせることが可能です。
海に最も近い場所に位置：かつて波打ち際で造られていた石風呂にちなみ、敷地内で最も海に近い場所に設置されます。身をかがめてくぐるような入口も特徴的です。
